Care and Maintenance:

Do not use the surface for 48 hours from the time of completion. Temperature and humidity can affect drying time, please adjust accordingly. When removing the masking, peel paper and tape in an upward and outward direction, slowly. Use extra caution around drain pieces and faucets. Surfaces can be put back to full use after peeling the masking, but may still harden for about 2 weeks.

Do not lay soap, bottles, or other objects directly on the surface.

Be sure that the faucets are dry every evening, drain shower pipes and close faucets tightly. If you notice a leak, repair it immediately. Water leaking onto the surface constantly can cause erosion and premature wear. Be sure there is no standing water on your refinished surface.

Do NOT use abrasive cleaners such as Ajax, Comet, Soft Scrub, wire brushes, steel wool, or any other harsh abrasives. Bleaches, ammonia, and scratch pads are also not good for the surface. Liquid products such as 409, Greased Lightning, and Scrubbing Bubbles are all good products. It is important to clean the surface weekly, as this will prevent soap scum build up.

Do not drop sharp or heavy objects onto the surface.

Do not use acid bearing compounds on the surface. (Drain cleaner, and many tile and grout cleaners)

Make up, hair dye, wet grocery bags, and other color changing compounds should be kept away from the surface.

Do not use a rubber mat. Astonoshine installed a slip resistant bottom in your bathtub, but if you find it to be too slippery, we have special permanent bath mats.

Caulk line between bathtub and surround must always be sealed. It is the responsibility of the customer to re-caulk unless previously agreed upon and noted on the work order. All caulk must be applied prior to first use.

ALL construction works around the surface to be refinished must be shut down during the refinishing and drying process. Make sure that maintenance workers, repair workers, and cleaners are aware that the surface has recently been refinished, and that it cannot be touched, and dust must be kept away.

Drain cleaners: If you find that a drain cleaner is necessary, use with caution. Liquids have been found to be better than powders. Before using a drain cleaner, bail the standing water out of the bathtub, Using a clear vinyl tube may allow you to pour the drain cleaner directly down the drain, rather than into the bathtub. Once the drain is open, wash the bathtub immediately with soap and water.

Some bathtubs, soap dishes, and other surface may have slopes that move water away from the drain. This can cause pooling water, which should be wiped away immediately.

If you will be washing your dog or other pets in the tub, placing a towel in the bottom will protect the finish from their nails and claws. If you will be using a baby tub or other object, a towel under the object will help maintain the finish.

Please do not cut directly on the surface. Cutting boards are a much better alternative. Setting hot pans or other hot objects will burn the surface, as with a brand-new surface.
